Cosmetic Dental Care

Everybody wants a healthy
and attractive smile

Unfortunately, years of consuming tooth-staining foods and drinks, wear, and dental decay can all combine to cause even the healthiest of smiles to lose a little of their luster.

As an experienced cosmetic dentist in Newberg, Dr. Jennifer McLeod offers a variety of comprehensive cosmetic dental services designed to help your smile look and feel its best. If you want to restore the confidence to your smile, our team at Newberg Family Dental can help. Our full range of services include:

Teeth Whitening

When asked how they would like their teeth to be, most patients tell us they would like them to be whiter. Bleaching your teeth is a safe way to reverse the staining and darkening from coffee, juices, red wine, and the likes over time. One can bleach their teeth on a regular basis to keep their smile white.

It’s little wonder that teeth whitening has become the most commonly performed cosmetic dental procedure in dental offices across the U.S. With advances made in teeth whitening technology, patients can receive the brighter, whiter smile they’ve always wanted after just one treatment.

Teeth whitening is an incredibly safe and inexpensive procedure that can greatly improve your self-esteem and self-confidence. Depending on your preference, you can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower. We will provide you with a special bleaching agent that helps remove stains from the enamel of your teeth. Once your teeth reach your preferred brightness, only occasional treatments are needed to maintain your brilliant new smile.

Veneers

Some patients have teeth that cannot be whitened with bleaching. For these applications, stained and discolored teeth can be covered with a plastic or porcelain veneer that will create a natural-looking tooth and the desired white smile.

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of the teeth, helping to correct the appearance of uneven, chipped, stained or crooked teeth. These ultra-thin veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to stains from substances like tobacco, soda, wine, tea, and coffee.

Veneers can be completed in about three dental visits, involving consultation with Dr. McLeod as well as an impression of your teeth to send to the lab where your veneers will be made. The veneers are then bonded to your teeth during the third visit. Dr. McLeod will ensure that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelains and are bonded with the most advanced and proven materials available.

Crowns

A crown can help strengthen a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth remaining to hold the filling. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. It’s also used to cover a dental implant. Crowns are designed to mimic the natural shape and color of the tooth and are made of natural composite material. If installed correctly, many crowns will last a lifetime and provide a healthy smile.

If your dentist recommends a crown, it is probably to correct one of these conditions. Your dentist’s primary concern, like yours, is helping you keep your teeth healthy and your smile bright.

Enamel Shaping

Teeth, or enamel, shaping offers patients a convenient and cost-effective option for fixing uneven, chipped, or poorly aligned teeth to craft a healthier, better-looking smile. Dr. McLeod offers the shaping or contouring of teeth in combination with dental bonding, which involves the application of a resin to improve the overall appearance of a patient's teeth. The front teeth make the best candidates for dental bonding and reshaping.

Tooth shaping is akin to plastic surgery for the tooth. Enamel can be used to shape individual teeth to give the overall appearance of a nicer smile. Shaping involves contouring tooth enamel to create smooth lines that remove rough edges that cause discomfort and change in the appearance of your smile. Tooth shaping is a quick, convenient, and comfortable process that can dramatically improve the appearance, function, and health of any smile.

Bonding

Bonding refers to adding a composite plastic filling to a tooth to give it a more natural appearance. Less invasive and less expensive than veneers, they are an economical way to improve the smile.

Bonding uses a resin that’s placed on the front or back teeth to lighten stains, close minor gaps, correct crooked teeth, or restore decayed teeth. Once a tooth is prepared, a bonding resin is placed on top. The tooth is then colored and shaped to improve your smile. After it’s cured with a high-intensity curing light, the surface of the tooth is polished.

Orthodontic Care

Should more advanced shaping and teeth straightening be desired and/or required, we work with skilled orthodontists to gain a better-balanced bite, in addition to a nicer smile. Braces are no longer just for kids either. More adults are choosing to get the straighter, better looking, and healthier smile they’ve always wanted. With clear and ceramic braces, patients can complete their orthodontic treatment without most people ever noticing.
